Banff

Wednesday, September 1

We traveled to Banff today, set up camp, and then immediately did errands. We found a Safeway and restocked our supplies. Then we found a laundromat and restocked our closet. That pretty much killed the day so it was back to camp to prepare the ribs and drink the Canadian beer we'd purchased. If you ever get to Canada and like beer, I strongly suggest you try Kokanee Gold. I think it's excellent.

Thursday, September 2

Banff is the most commercialized township out of the three we've visited in the national parks. Thus Denise wants to go shopping. So I mostly stand out on the sidewalks and "people watch" while she goes through the stores to examine the same "crap" in a different place. However she still manages to find some "must haves" but we wrap things up by the early afternoon.

Banff is also beautiful like the other parks we've been to. But how many lakes and mountains can you look at? We're both getting tired of it but take a short drive anyway as we are here and may not be back for quite a while. I manage to take two shots of the surroundings.

Tomorrow we plan to travel through the last national forest on our journey. Kootenay National Forest is in British Columbia on our way out of Canada. Instead of setting up a base camp one day and then spending a day seeing the sights, we will save time by just stopping on our way and maybe only traveling 70 miles or so before camping for the night.
