I did my first fishing this morning. Lewie and I spent about 2 hours at the bridge catching Sunnies. We only kept the largest ones and threw back the others. When we counted them up, we had 37 fish between us. So after a short rest, it was off the fish house to clean them. This year I decided that because the Sunnies are good eatin', I want to learn how to fillet them. So I dug out the fillet knife that was given to me as a gift several years ago. I figured the knife would work much better if I actually opened the package so I did. Lewie loaned me an extra fish scaler and off we went. All I can say is that I'm very glad Lewie was helping or I probably wouldn't have finished until Saturday. In the hour we cleaned fish, I only cleaned about 5 while he cleaned the other 32. Then it was off to the grocery store as the cousins start arriving today. Lynn, Rose, and Aunt Janice are on the tail end of two week trip to the Canadian Rockies and will stay through the weekend. Tomorrow more arrive for the weekend. In all, there will be about 15 to feed and half of those are young adults in their 20's. We returned from the store and then the challenge began. RV refrigerators are not very large, about the size of one of those larger dorm units you see at Costco for around $100 or so. But somehow between Lewie's and ours, we got everything in. And our part was just Friday night supper. The weather continues to be very nice. I guess there was a front that pushed through on Tuesday which is why it was so hot and steamy. But now we're enjoying the cooler air behind the front and high temperatures are staying in the mid 70's. The wind always picks up in the afternoon but it's not too bad and it helps keep the bugs down to a dull roar. |
