Jasper - Rain, Rain, Rain Wednesday, August 25 Poor weather today. Keeps raining off and on. Went to the Visitor Center in Jasper. Picked up a few brochures on things to do in the area. Walked through the shops. Same crap, different place. But Denise doesn't think so and I have the receipts to prove it. We went back to camp and had some lunch. The weather started to clear so we took a drive to Mount Edith Cavell. According to the description in the park guide, "a switchback road climbs 14.5 km (9 mi.) to a viewpoint under the mountain's spectacular north face". What they forgot to include was that the road in makes a washboard seem smooth. ROUGH!!! And exacerbated by a one ton truck with stiff suspension. We finally made it to the top but didn't get out as the rain had started again. So we went back to camp and called it a day. (no pictures) |
