Well I'm getting back into the swing of things.  Getting used to all the traffic commuting to and from work.  Getting used to ignoring people on the street as we pass by.  Getting used to telling the bums that they should get a job instead of begging for money from me.  And getting used to all the other things that I didn't have to deal with while on vacation.

Last Thursday, I called Progressive Auto Insurance, the company with which I have the boat insured.  The customer service rep took down all of the details of my claim and told me that an adjuster would be calling soon.  She said two hours is the normal time frame.

And a little over two hours later, the adjuster called.  We discussed the sinking and he said he'd like to come over on Friday and look at the boat.

So on Friday when Denise and I got home from work, the adjuster, Alex, was there.  He looked at the damage, took some pictures, and wrote out a check to me for the amount on the receipts.  He also gave me a $125 credit toward my $250 deductible for some scratches in the boat that I wasn't going to have repaired.  Boy was I impressed!  In contrast, I called GMAC Insurance for the 5th wheel damage on Tuesday.  The claims rep didn't call until Thursday.  Next my claim had to go to an adjuster who didn't call until yesterday.  And now he can't get out to look at the trailer until tomorrow.  We may switch all of our insurance to Progressive.

I am also looking forward to taking the boat out on Friday for some salmon fishing in the river.  I've been reading the fishing forums trying to learn the techniques to catch the big ones.  Seems 30 - 40 lbs. salmon are common and almost nothing is much less than 20 lbs.  So I've done the research, asked some guys at work that fish, and I think I'm ready to give it a try.  I'll post results after Friday.
