Well whatever that thing was we had yesterday, it's gone away today.  But since our bosses were already primed by us leaving early the day before, we both called in sick today.  Actually, I think I would have rather gone to work.

I spent the day completing the long list of honey-do's that had accumulated. Our toilet has become more and more difficult to flush.  So to start, I went to Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) to find a new part that the handle chain hooks on to.  Nope.  They have standard stuff but this pressure tank toilet stuff is all specific to the manufacturer.  So I head back home to start my research on the Internet.

To make a long story short, I found the part I needed was called an actuator valve.  I found a document that described how to remove it (although it didn't tell me I'd first have to remove half of the whole pressure tank apparatus just to get to the one stupid plastic nut that holds the actuator valve).  This document said it should come out in one piece.  Mine came out in three.  So I glued it back together with Krazy Glue (we'll see how long that lasts).  Meanwhile, I'm still looking for somewhere to buy this actuator valve (which is nothing more that a spring, a piece of plastic, and a small metal rod similar to a straightened paper clip) on it's own instead of part of a rebuild kit for $109.

After spending half a day on the toilet project, I re-caulked the shower and tub.  Removing old caulking in a 4'x3' area when one is 6'10" is not fun.  Miserable job that I will avoid as long as I can in the future.

Next, I cleaned up the yard after that fucking wind storm that ruined my fishing trip and mowed the grass.

Finally, I got out the paint and touched up the wall where the guys had to cut a hole to finish fixing our air conditioner (see this link for the whole story).  And by this time it was after 5:00 pm.

So yes, I know I would have rather gone to work.  The only saving grace is that now these tasks are done.  After all, I wouldn't have been able to get out of them forever.
